One More For The NYC Bucket List: The New York Wheel

Two million tourists will no longer take the Staten Island Ferry and stay in the terminal for a return trip to Manhattan because they will have an awesome reason to actually disembark– The New York Wheel. This new addition to every visitor’s bucket list is a record-breaking attraction as the world’s tallest Ferris wheel at 630 feet and attracting more than three million visitors a year. Its development and construction is currently underway with the enormous pedestal base arriving at Staten Island’s waterfront this past week.

Scheduled to be completed in early 2018, it will be the world’s tallest observation wheel replacing the now-closed Toys R’ Us Ferris Wheel. Admission is $35 per person for a 38-minute ride and the wheel will be open from 10am to midnight, seven days a week.  The wheel will have 36 egg-shaped cabins that will be attached to the outside of the wheel so that they provide a pilot’s-eye view of the city. It will be able to hold 1,440 riders and be visible across New York Harbor, and will definitely be a new must-add item for your never-ending NYC bucket list.
